Art is Culture.

Art is of the essence. Art is how we we become human and relate to one another. All else is compulsion.

I find Art to be most vital as the legacy of a continuum. At its best it addresses the specific time and context of its creation while transcending these in the same gesture. Movements like Expressionism and Surrealism exemplify this for me along with the varied disciplines of design and arabesque.

Expression builds on the known while creativity works spontaneously with no precedent. I can only truly express myself by smashing my reflection and symbolizing yours. My hope is that through art we can better understand ourselves and each other, and encounter each other more genuinely.
